Sixth Form Ethos
The Highworth Sixth Form is an opportunity for students to develop with confidence and participate in a range of experiences centred around our REACH ethos:
R – Our Sixth Form students are reflective, creative and innovative. Our range of courses include many creative options and there are a number of events held throughout the year to showcase students’ talents. Many of our students are successful in driving innovation and gaining recognition in local and national competitions. We work together to reflect on achievements and identify how to move forward to meet personal aspirations.
E – Everyone in the school community is focused on life-long learning and those joining the Sixth Form should be eager for the intellectual demand of A Level lessons. Students are expected to undertake concerted and considered personal learning beyond the classroom. It is important to do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do during Sixth Form and in preparation for life after Highworth.
A – Your aim should be something which inspires you to “reach for the stars”. We support students to achieve their full potential and help them to identify their next steps for further study and careers. Many of our alumni return to school to share their journey with current students. We hope that Highworth Sixth Form will be a memorable experience for all of those who have chosen to study their two year A Level programme with us.
C – Sixth Form students are expected to be considerate of others at all times and become role models for the students in lower Year Groups. Those joining the Sixth Form are encouraged to build their confidence and independence by taking part in what is on offer, such as: trying out dance, drama, music or sport; contributing to the Student Equality Team; or becoming a student leader in a Learning Community or subject specialism.
H – Students can only fulfil their potential if they are happy. We advise our students to pick subjects they enjoy, make the most of the support on offer and participate readily in the wider Highworth community.
