Civic Exchange 2024
This year’s event (19-22 September) was the 60th anniversary of the German twinning and 40th anniversary of the French twinning exchanges:
“Fortunately, I have had the fantastic opportunity to attend two Town Twinning exchanges during my time at Highworth. In Year 11, I was able to attend Fougères for the twinning presentation and now again in Year 13 I was involved with the Ashford exchange.
On Friday, we were able to meet the French students from Fougères and they shadowed our lessons for the morning. They were lovely and we enjoyed enhancing our French by talking to them. We also connected with the German students from Bad Münstereifel and really enjoyed speaking to them.
On Saturday, we presented ‘The History of Ashford’ to the mayors and councillors of Ashford, Fougères and Bad Münstereifel in three different languages. Although we were slightly nervous for our trilingual presentation, we really enjoyed it and were all so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in a 60 year trilingual tradition.
In the evening, Isabelle from 9AB performed for the Civic Exchange and the Deputy German Ambassador at the official dinner at the London Beach Hotel.”
