Trip to Rhineland
The German Department took forty Year 10 students for a long weekend in the Rhineland from Friday 14 to Monday 18 June. We stayed in the pretty village of Boppard in a hotel directly overlooking the river Rhine and packed in many cultural experiences including a boat trip on the Rhine, a cable car up to the Niederwald monument, a visit to the legendary Loreley Rock and a tour of the medieval Marksburg Castle. The students were encouraged to speak as much German as they could, for example in cafes and souvenir shops, and they enjoyed lots of traditional German food such as Currywurst, Schnitzel and Brezeln.
