Romania Expedition

We were pleased to take some of our students on an expedition overseas after four years, due to the pandemic that changed travelling for all. The team of students travelled to Romania during summer this year with an expedition leader. The students had prepared themselves through the year for this week-long expedition. The students did very well navigating the challenges, travelling abroad in a team and backpacking for the week. The team arrived in Bucharest and spent a couple of days there acclimatising themselves while exploring the culture and local history. They all rose to the challenge of navigating through a foreign city and planning the day for themselves with some support from the team leader.

The team then took a train to the City of Brasov, which was buzzing with tourists and activities. They also hiked Mount Tampa for some amazing views and in preparation for the Hike of Piatre Mare. The team planned and packed food for the couple of days of hiking in the mountains working admirably and efficiently. The students were resolved to complete the hike of 1600 meters with their heavy rucksacks on. The team leader could not be prouder of the team's effort as they persevered through the 7 hours hike while keeping each other's spirits high. The view that was waiting for the team was a great reward indeed! Camping in the wild on a very windy night was a challenge but the team rose to that challenge. After the team made their way back to civilisation and rested a bit, we went exploring the Bran Castle, also popularly known as Dracula Castle. The rightfully tired and exhausted team at this point, made their way back to Bucharest and UK eventually the following day.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the expedition and acquired leadership skills along the way. The team leader was very impressed with how well the team worked together building new and stronger friendships. They all found their inner strength and resilience to face all the challenges the expedition brought with it. We are very proud of the team and congratulate them on successfully completing the expedition.
