European Day of Languages 2022
Monday 26 September is European Day of Languages and this year we are celebrating our first Culture Day with a whole week of activities led by the Modern Foreign Languages Department. An assembly was delivered to highlight the range of languages spoken by staff in the school and to advertise the events taking place. Throughout lunchtime on Friday 23 September, students enjoyed traditional European games and competitions:
- French: Twin Town Treasure Hunt and Cheese Challenge
- Italian: Pasta Puzzle (match the pasta shape to the correct name)
- German: Culture Darts (magnetic dart game, connecting cultural objects to cities)
- Spanish: Chapas (using counters instead of bottle caps to flick along a “track”)
This week, students will be discovering language careers, courses and opportunities as well as some of the inspirational achievements of Highworth’s alumni. All our students are invited to compete in the Highworth European Master Chef Competition by cooking a European dish and submitting a photo on Google Classroom. A taste of Europe will be available on Thursday in the Hub.
