Reflection Message From the Headteacher
We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This morning, I delivered an assembly to the whole school about the contribution she made in her service to the country and the Commonwealth.
She has been a constant for many through a period of great social change following the Second World War, and leaves an extraordinary legacy, one that is found in almost every corner of our national life, as well as the lives of so many nations around the world.
For me, a message from the Queen earlier this year resonated profoundly. She said, “I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.” I know that this ideal is embodied by many here at Highworth, and the spirit of community which is so central to our school, makes us stronger and more resilient. I hope that we are able to continue to embody the Queen’s wishes for compassion and togetherness.
