Japanese Culture Day
The school celebrated Japanese Culture Day on Friday 25 March and there were Mentor Group competitions to create artwork depicting a Japanese Sakura Tree or Japanese fan. We were delighted to host a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Kent Ambassador, Amanda Cottrell, to celebrate our gift of a Sakura cherry tree as a symbol of friendship from the Japanese people. The event was attended by our governors, Ceri Norey and Rob Rose; Highworth staff; Highworth students who speak Japanese; and our International Programmes Prefects. Thank you to Mrs Ferris, our Director of International Programmes for organising this event and to all of the Highworth community who made contributions. Our Eco Sakura Competition winners were: Janelle 12AB; Kavin 12KK; Christie 11KK; Molly 8EG; Bella 7AB; Freya 7AB;
Best Mentor NS: SWE/SFE; Lilia 7EG for her display of Japanese dolls; and Miss Mason for the staff prize.
